Tolerated Noise Levels

In Florida, boaters must be aware of their vessel and operators’ impact on others, whether on land or at sea. 

The Exhaust System and The Muffler

On any motorized boat, the exhaust from the internal combustion engine must be muffled by an automatic-style muffler, underwater exhaust, or other equipment designed to reduce the noise produced by the exhaust. 

Only the vessels participating in a regatta, an official race, or trial runs may use cutouts. This is to ensure the racing boats do not cause any unnecessary damage by colliding with each other.
