FAQ

Questions, answered

Is the Florida certificate I get here recognized by FWC?
Yes. Our courses are NASBLA-accredited and approved by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for issuing official Florida Boating Safety Education ID Cards. The card you receive is the real thing — same one you'd get from any state-approved provider.
What's the difference between Temporary and Lifetime?
The Temporary Certificate ($14) is the fastest path to legally operating a rental — about 30 minutes, designed so customers at marinas and rental shops can take it on their phone right at the counter. The Lifetime Certificate covers you forever, including owning your own boat, and goes deeper into navigation rules + emergencies. Most Florida residents go with Lifetime; visitors/renters usually go Temporary.
Do I have to take the course to pass the test?
For the Florida Temporary, no — you can skip directly to the final exam if you already know the material. For the Florida Lifetime, you'll work through the chapters first (they prepare you for what's on the test, and most students appreciate the structure).
What if I don't pass on the first try?
Unlimited retakes at no extra cost. If you don't pass within 90 days of purchase, we refund you in full — that's our 100% pass guarantee. The reason we offer it is because virtually nobody who finishes the course fails.
How long is my Florida certificate valid?
The Lifetime Certificate never expires. The Temporary Certificate is valid for the duration of a rental period or boating trip. You can re-purchase the temporary as needed, or upgrade to the lifetime any time.
Can my teenager take the Florida boating license course?
Yes. Anyone old enough to legally operate a vessel in Florida can take the course. There's no minimum age set by us — it's gated by Florida's general operator age laws (typically 14+ for PWCs with restrictions, 18+ for unrestricted operation).
Will my certificate get reported to FWC automatically?
Yes. As soon as you pass, we transmit your certification to FWC via their official vendor API. Your card is in their system within 24-48 hours. You get a printable PDF instantly, plus the card is on your phone.
I rented a boat in Florida years ago — do I need to re-take?
Depends. If you took the Lifetime Certificate, you're set forever. If you took a Temporary, that was rental-period-specific and you'd need either a new Temporary for this trip or upgrade to the Lifetime.
